Templates
Pre-built workflows for common trading styles. Load one, customize, save as your own.
Templates are starter workflows — pre-assembled combinations of presets across the three phases that match common trading styles. Loading a template gives you a working draft you can edit freely; the original stays unchanged so you can always start over.
Available templates
Seven starting points. Pick the closest match to your strategy and edit from there.
| Template | Best for |
|---|---|
| Day Trading | Quick scalps and intraday momentum — speed-focused with tight stops |
| Swing Trading | Multi-day holds — wider stops, trend analysis, patience |
| Breakout Trading | Breakouts from consolidation — volume and momentum confirmation |
| Reversal Trading | Counter-trend setups — exhaustion signals, divergences, mean reversion |
| Options Trading | Options strategies — Greeks, time decay, volatility, premium plays |
| News Trading | Event-driven trades — earnings, economic data, catalysts |
| Full Analysis | Comprehensive coverage of every aspect — good for new traders or unusually important positions |
Loading a template
The template strip lives at the top of Edge Builder.
When your workflow canvas is empty, a row of template buttons appears at the top of Edge Builder, above the three phase columns. Click any template to populate the canvas with its steps.
The strip only appears when the canvas is empty. If you've started building a workflow already, click Clear (or open My Workflows and start a new blank one) to surface the templates again.
Customizing
Once loaded, the workflow is yours.
A loaded template behaves like any other workflow:
- Add more presets via the Add Step buttons in each phase
- Remove ones that don't fit your style by clicking the X on a step
- Drag to reorder
- Rename the workflow at the top of the page (it defaults to the template name)
- Add a description if useful
Once you save, your customized version becomes its own workflow. The template itself stays in the strip for next time, unchanged.
Multiple workflows from one template
Templates aren't single-use.
You can load the same template multiple times to create different variations — e.g., one Day Trading workflow for ES futures and another for high-beta stocks. Each saved workflow is independent; editing one doesn't affect the others.
