Common questions about using Flow.

Getting Started
What's the fastest way to learn Flow?
Take the in-app tour. After you sign up, the dashboard prompts you to take it. The tour walks through Edge Builder, the Journal, Playbooks, and Prop Accounts in about five minutes. You can also start it manually from the Getting Started doc.
How do I verify my email?
After signing up, check your inbox for a verification email. Click the link to activate your account. If you don't see it within a few minutes, check your spam folder.
Can I use Flow on mobile?
Yes — Flow is fully responsive and works in mobile browsers. Some features (Edge Builder's drag-and-drop in particular) are easier on a tablet or desktop, but logging trades, reviewing the Journal, and viewing the Dashboard all work fine on a phone.
Privacy & Data
Can the developer see my trades or notes?
No, not as a normal practice. Flow uses Row Level Security so the application only accesses your data when you're logged in. The developer has technical access to the underlying database for admin tasks (migrations, security incidents) but does not view, analyze, or process your trading data outside of support requests you explicitly initiate. See the Privacy Policy for the full statement.
Does the AI assistant in the docs see my trade data?
No. The AI assistant only has access to these documentation pages. It can't read your trades, workflows, journals, prop accounts, or anything personal. If you ask it about specific user data (“what's my P&L?”), it'll tell you to check the Dashboard or Journal.
How do I export my data?
Click the Export button in the top-right of the Dashboard. You can download your trade history for backups, taxes, or external analysis.
Can I delete my account?
Yes, but it requires manual assistance for now. Email support@flowtrading.app to request deletion. All your data — trades, workflows, presets, playbooks, prop accounts — will be permanently removed.
Is my data secure?
Data is stored in Supabase (PostgreSQL) with TLS in transit and at rest. Row Level Security enforces per-user isolation so the application can only access your data when you're logged in. Passwords are hashed and never stored in plain text. See the Privacy Policy for details.
Features & Usage
What's the difference between presets and workflows?
A preset is a single step or question — “Stop loss set?”, “Rate your confidence 1-10”. A workflow is a collection of presets organized across the three phases (Pre-Trade, Execution, Post-Trade). You build workflows from presets in the Edge Builder.
Can I create my own presets?
Yes. In Edge Builder, click Create Custom Step at the top of the page. See the Edge Builder docs for the field-by-field walkthrough.
Can I edit a custom step after I create it?
Yes. Hover any custom step in your workflow canvas and click the pencil icon next to the X. The same dialog you used to create the step opens with all fields pre-filled — change what you want and save. The pencil also shows up in the Add Step library sheet, so you can edit from either place. Built-in presets can't be edited — only ones you've created yourself.
How do I close an open trade?
In the Journal, find the trade and click the Close button in its Actions column. A dialog asks for exit price, position size, and fees, then computes your P&L. Alternatively, you can fill in the close-out details during the Post-Trade phase when first logging the trade.
How do I edit a trade after logging it?
Click any trade row in the Journal to open the trade detail dialog — you can update fields from there. For closing an open trade, use the Close button described above instead.
Can I share a workflow with another user?
Yes. In Edge Builder, open the workflow and click Share to generate a share code. Send the code to another Flow user, who pastes it into the Import dialog. Only the workflow structure transfers — never your trades, notes, or account data.
I'm not on a prop firm — should I ignore Prop Accounts?
Yes. The Prop Accounts tab inside the Journal won't bother you if you don't use it, and the prop-related Dashboard widgets (Prop Overview, Account Health, Prop Spend) are hidden by default. They only show up if you turn them on via Customize on the Dashboard.
How many workflows should I have?
Most traders do well with one to four — usually one per strategy or timeframe. Start with one for your main approach. If you find yourself wanting different questions for different setups, add more from the Edge Builder.
Troubleshooting
I'm getting logged out unexpectedly.
Sessions expire periodically. Log back in. If it keeps happening, clear your browser cache and cookies, then log in again. If the issue persists, email support@flowtrading.app.
Something looks broken — how do I report it?
Email support@flowtrading.app with what you were doing, what you expected, and what actually happened. A screenshot helps a lot. The more specific you can be (URL, the exact button you clicked, time of day), the faster the fix.
About Flow
What trading strategies does Flow support?
Flow is strategy-agnostic. It works with day trading, swing trading, options, futures, forex, crypto, or anything else. The built-in presets cover common analysis areas; you can also build custom presets for anything specific to your approach.
Will Flow make me a better trader?
That's on you. Flow gives you a structured way to ask the right questions before, during, and after every trade — but it doesn't make decisions for you. Traders who consistently document their process and review patterns over time tend to improve. Flow's job is to make that documentation low-friction.
